FAQ's

Is all our lighting compatible with dimmer switches?

Pendant lights can be dimmed providing you use a dimmable light bulb, and a compatible dimmer switch, i.e. LED dimmable light bulbs require a compatible LED dimmable switch. Please consult a qualified, certified electrician for further advice. Our floor and table lights, and some of our wall lights, which have an inbuilt switch, cannot be dimmed.

Are our lights suitable for outdoor or bathroom use?

Please see all corresponding packaging for individual lighting instructions. Some of our product lines are not currently suitable for use outdoors or in wet areas such as bathrooms.

Are any of our lights suitable for use outside of Europe?

Our lights are suitable for use across the globe. All of our table and floor lights come fitted with a UK plug but can be shipped with an adapter if specified. Likewise, our wall lights can be shipped with adapters. Alternatively, they can be connected straight to the mains supply by a qualified, certified electrician.

Are any of our lighting ranges suitable for use in the EU?

The electrical components in all of our lights are CE certified. All of our table and floor lights come fitted with a UK plug and include a free UK to EU adapter. All of our wall lights are suitable for use in the EU and either come with a UK plug and EU adapter or can be connected straight to the mains supply by a qualified, certified electrician.

Are the lights suitable for use in the UK and other Countries Worldwide where the mains supply is between 110-130 volts?

All pendant lights (apart from our Cluster Lighting Range, the Kern Pendant, Kern Pendant Large, Kern Pendant Giant, and Giant Flock Chandelier) are suitable for use in the US and other countries on 110-130v mains supply - all orders delivered to the US come with an E26 ceiling kit compatible with any E26 screw cap bulb. Please note that the E26 ceiling kits provided are not UL rated. Table lights, wall lights and floor lights are not currently suitable for use in the US and other countries on 110-130v mains due to the inbuilt wiring. Transformers can be used but are not available directly through our website.

Can I adjust the drop of my ceiling light?

Most of our pendant lights are supplied with a 2m ceiling kit and flex (apart from the Kern Pendant, Kern Pendant Large, Kern Pendant Giant, Cluster Lighting Range and Giant Flock Chandelier). The flex cords can be shortened by either concealing the flex in the void of the ceiling rose or by cutting the flex at the ceiling rose end. A qualified, certified electrician must carry out any changes to the length of the flex.

Can I adjust the drop of Pendant Light Fittings?

A number of our Pendants come pre-wired with a 2-meter drop. It is possible to make this longer by rewiring it with your length flex and lamp/bulb holders. You must consult a qualified, certified electrician for further advice on this. Equally, it is possible to shorten the drop of the pendant lights - again. An electrician will be able to reduce the flex by concealing this is the ceiling rope and/or cutting it to the adjusted length.

How do I install my wall light?

Wall Lights are supplied with a plug-in-and-go inline switch and UK plug. They can be hard-wired into the mains electricity using the connection box provided, concealing the flex in the void behind the wooden backplate supplied. Urchin, Scots and Eddy Wall Lights are provided with a bulb holder that screws directly into the wall and hard-wired into mains electricity.

I have a high ceiling - are more extended ceiling kits and flex available?

All of our ceiling lights (apart from the Cluster Lighting Range, Kern Pendant, Kern Pendant Large, Kern Pendant Giant and Giant Flock Chandelier) are available with a 4m ceiling kit and flex if required.

I have very low ceilings - is it possible to mount my pendant light onto the ceiling?

Most of our pendant lights can be hung with little or no flex showing between the ceiling rose and bulb holder. It allows you to mount your lights directly onto the ceiling. Achieving the required by length by cutting the flex at the ceiling rose end, it is always recommended a qualified, certified electrician be used.
